Your information for bit types, what they’re for and how to use is excellent. Thank you for putting this together!

I am new to this type of router work and found it a bit of a minefield looking at all the various types of cutters,
I see you recommend quality bits what is your opinion on the Chinese router bits.
Thanks for your article

Thanks for putting it up

Wed, 21 Mar 2018 02:44:40 +0000http://www.tinkerandfutz.com/?p=658#comment-79899Hi
I’m wanting to get into making wooden games. I’ll probably be working with MDF or similar or perhaps a ply. I was thinking a cnc laser cutter as I would also like to have images marked on the surface. My hesitation with the laser machines is the look of the burnt edge. Do they always burn? It’s conceivable that I could paint or dark stain the edges as there will be some sort of finish applied to the pieces, usually clear or stained lacquer finish. These are not chess pieces, more tiles and flat pieces that these will be thin – mostly 4mm I think, I don’t expect anything to be deeper than 5 or 6 mm. I’m sorry to be a bother, if its easier for you to refer me to a forum then please do but some guidance would be appreciated. Thanks

I’ve done topographical cuts using Terrain2STL and importing that into Aspire, but that sources Google Maps data, so no moon for me!

They seem to go quicker than I can absorb. I try to back them up even do the same things on my computer. However, when I get started to make a design, all is lost from memory, Ithink

Hi Bill,
Thanks for reading. I’ve used that bit on maple, oak, and walnut and I have been happy with the results on each.

Thu, 19 Mar 2015 13:16:11 +0000http://www.tinkerandfutz.com/?p=615#comment-55118I am thinking of getting one of these bits. I currently use a 1 7/8″ spoilboard bit to surface mostly pecan, oak, mesquite and cottonwood table tops and am thinking of going to the 2 1/2″ bit and saw the Amana 2+2. How does it work on hardwood?
Thanks,
Bill
